Please be warned that some of the things done in this demo can and will lead to strange sounds being produced! [:phoneme on] [:ra 100] Fun with Dectalk. [:ra 300] [:dv pr 250] [:dv sr 50] You can have lots of fun with your Dectalk synthesizer! You can have it say nifty things like it is doing now. It can sound very good like it does now. [:dv pr 0] Or it can sound like a complete monotone robot. [:dv pr 250] Dectalk can talk very slow. [:ra 1] This is the slowest Dectalk can talk. [:ra 300] Or it can talk very fast. [:ra 999] This is the fastest speed you can get. I bet you can't understand much of what I am saying right now! [:ra 300] You can make it sound really weird. [:dv sx 0] I bet it sounds very weird now! [:dv sx 1] [:dv save] Other examples of making Dectalk sound different are. [:dv gf 80] Like this. Bet that sounds weird! [:nv] [:dv la 100] I think I just got a cold! [:nv] [:dv br 50] Oh god, I thought my cold was going away! [:dv br 100] Oh god, even more of that? [:nv] [:dv hs 90] Oh no! My head is shrinking! [:dv hs 80] It's getting smaller. I will probably make some weird noises long about now because I have such a tiny head! Sorry about that! [:dv hs 70] And yet more smaller! [:dv hs 60] I'm going to die! [:dv hs 50] I'm going to pass out! [:dv hs 40] Please, somebody help me! [:dv hs 30] Oh no [:dv hs 20] Oh no [:dv hs 10] Oh no [:dv hs 1] Oh my god I'm dying. I'm dying! [:dv hs 200] Oh my god what's this? [:dv hs 190] Oh god I have a huge head! [:dv hs 180] Oh please, give me a normal head again! [:dv hs 150] Ok getting better now. [:dv hs 130] And more better. [:dv hs 115] Ok now I'm a bit more like normal. [:dv hs 110] Ok, please, let this trend continue! I want a normal head again! [:dv hs 105] Ok almost back to normal. [:dv hs 100] Thank god! Back to a normal head! [:dv ap 1] Ok I'm a very huge man! But at least my head is normal sized! [:dv ap 999] Oh no, now I'm very small! But hey, I still have my normal head! [:nv] [:dv hs 115] [:dv sx 0] Ok what's this now? A sex change? And oh my god, a big head again! [:nv] [:dv br 55 gv 56] Ok now I've got some breathiness. What's that all about? [:dv br 100] Oh no, somebody's playing with me again! [:nv] Ok, um, enough of that. Now, where was I? [:ra 1] [hxmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.] [:ra 300] Ok I remember now. Other stuff Dectalk can do. It can dial telephone numbers. [:dial "18005558355"] It can generate tones. [:tone 440,1000] [D'ehktaok kaen sp'iyk yuziynx f'owniymz.] You can do nifty complicated sequences with it. [:dv pr 0] [:ra 100] Please enter the security code. [:dial "19283749283629"] Please wait for authorization. [:dv pr 250] [:tone 1000,40] [_<1000,>] Oh god I hope that's the right code! [:tone 1000,40] [_<500,>] [:dv pr 0] [:ra 100] Authorization failed. Access denied. [:dv pr 250] [:ra 300] Oh well, too bad! And no dectalk demo would be complete without a singing demo! [:np] [:dv ap 120] Background information follows. [:dv g5 0] a. [:np] [:dv ap 120] The telephone number dialed in the preceding demo is the number for Tell me, a telephone service in the United States that has lots of information. The tone that was generated is a 440 hertz tone. The complicated sequence was all made by me. The security code used in the complicated sequence, dialed in touch tones, is just a bunch of random digits. The ways of making dectalk sound weird can lead to weird noises, and are all documented in Chapter six of your Dectalk manual. End of demo.
